What to Expect
Plan for a highly interactive few days together! Over three consecutive days, participants will unpack and learn how to implement their subject-specific project unit. Facilitated by one of our expert National Faculty, TEACH Deep Dive includes a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, peer collaboration, and feedback. There will be activities that get participants out of their seats, opportunities to have fun with other participants, and independent time to work on project planning. Each day is 6 hours with an additional 1 hour for lunch.
What you will do in 3 days
The following describes the focus of each day. Each day’s session builds on the previous one. Participants should plan to attend for all three days of learning.
Day #1
Picking a Project
During this first day, participants reflect on their students and develop a foundation in Project Based Teaching Practices. They select and unpack a PBLWorks TEACH project to gain an in-depth understanding of the learning goals and storyline.
Day #2
Assessment & Scaffolding
Participants learn more about the standards, products, and assessment criteria that will anchor student learning throughout the project. They work on their project implementation plan to calendar their assessments and highlight strategies for thoughtful scaffolding.
Day #3
Culture
Participants gain insight into how to build a culture for PBL in their classroom and strengthen their project implementation plans accordingly. After engaging in a peer feedback protocol, they refine their plans to ensure equitable access and success for all learners through skillful facilitation anchored in the Project Based Teaching Practices.
