The PBL Champions Awards

The annual awards for PBL Champion are a celebration of the individuals, schools, and districts who are impacting and expanding the work of Project Based Learning in education.

The awards are presented each year at PBL World, the premier event for Project Based Learning. Each award recipient is invited to share their story during one of the morning keynote sessions. In addition, recipients receive complimentary registration to their choice 3-day workshop at PBL World.*
 
*Note: Complimentary registrations are non-refundable and non-transferable. Travel and lodging are not included.

JL

John Larmer “JL” Lifelong Learner Award 

The annual award acknowledges teachers who are impacting and expanding the work of Project Based Learning for all students. 

Starting with PBL World 2022, we are extending an opportunity for teachers in the United States to apply for the annual John Larmer “JL” Lifelong Learner Award. 
 
This award acknowledges JL’s significant contributions to PBLWorks and the field of education, advancing high quality PBL for all students for over three decades. JL is the author of Setting the Standard for Project Based Learning and many other books and blogs focused on high quality PBL.

The awards are presented to three teachers each year at PBL World, the premier event for Project Based Learning. Recipients receive complimentary registration for a 1-day pre-conference workshop and a 3-day workshop of their choice at PBL World.*

Timeline & Eligibility

Public nominations/applications are open until March 18, 2022. Award recipients will be contacted by April 15, and invited to attend PBL World (June 27-30). The awards will be presented at PBL World on June 30, 2022.
Nominations for the 2022 PBL Champion Awards are limited to individuals, schools, and districts that are based in the United States and territories. Nominations for the 2022 JL Lifelong Learner Awards are open to individual classroom teachers based in the United States and its territories.

Kristi Wagner joined PBLWorks in 2019 as a Researcher. As Director of Research and Evidence, she leads the strategic implementation of the PBLWorks Research & Evidence Plan.
