Joe Grit

Joe is an educator and instructional leader from West Michigan with experience spanning elementary, middle, and high school classrooms. He currently teaches chemistry and forensic science and previously served as the Director of a K–8 school centered on project-based learning and inquiry. Throughout his career, Joe has also taught middle school science and STEM, supported school and district implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), and contributed to research on the Nature of Science (NOS) and science inquiry.

 

Joe enjoys partnering with teachers and school leaders to design meaningful learning experiences that are authentic, engaging, and accessible for all students. His experience leading PBL implementation across multiple grade levels gives him a practical understanding of both the opportunities and challenges schools face as they build sustainable, student-centered learning experiences. Whether working with elementary, middle, or high school educators, Joe values creating collaborative professional learning experiences that are grounded in relationships, reflection, and real classroom practice.

 

Joe is energized by helping educators develop high-quality projects and by learning alongside schools as they continue to refine their practice. He believes some of the best professional learning happens when educators share their successes, challenges, and ideas with one another embracing a fail forward mentality. Joe earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Grand Valley State University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.
