Amal Giknis teaches students at Science Leadership Academy, a project-based public high school in Philadelphia. On a daily basis she sees the ways PBL instruction can transform education toward greater equity and authenticity. Her English classes center student inquiry around rich themes and engaging projects with real-world applications. With over 15 years of teaching experience, she is a National Board Certified Teacher and recipient of the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award.
Amal is passionate about supporting teachers in designing relevant learning experiences for their students. She teaches at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education and mentors new educators in the field. She has worked with numerous organizations as a workshop facilitator, consultant, curriculum writer, and coach. A lifelong learner herself, Amal continually strives to improve her own pedagogy and believes the collaboration with other educators elevates the teaching profession toward meaningful outcomes for all students.
