The one-day TEACH Essentials workshop helps teachers select and unpack a fully designed Gold Standard project unit available only in PBLWorks TEACH.

Workshop Description

During this introductory workshop, participants will learn how to unpack a subject-specific project unit and gain insight into additional steps they will need to take to best prepare for implementation. They will work collaboratively to learn the project’s story and experience the Project Based Teaching Practices that lead to student success. Each participant will leave with a personalized project implementation plan and clear next steps for planning.

Currently, the following TEACH Essential workshops are available for Middle School (Grades 6-8) educators:

  • English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Math
  • Science
  • Social Studies
  • Multi-Subject (For groups with a combination of ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers)

Workshop Outcomes

• Understand the critical characteristics of Project Based Learning in project units

• Select and unpack a PBLWorks TEACH project unit for implementation

• Reflect on the needs of their learners and incorporate strategies to support learning throughout a project.

Pre-requisite: An active school subscription to PBLWorks TEACH

 

What to Expect

Plan for a highly interactive time together! Facilitated by one of our expert National Faculty, TEACH Essentials includes a balanced blend of direct instruction, video analysis, hands-on work, resource sharing, peer collaboration, and feedback. There will be activities that get participants out of their seats, opportunities to have fun with other participants, and independent time to work on project planning. Each day is 6 hours with an additional 1 hour for lunch.
