
Ryan Sprott, EdD
Ryan started began his career as a public school teacher in the oil fields of West Texas where he began exploring how to leverage PBL to deepen understanding of ourselves, our communities, and our world. Prior to joining PBLWorks as a National Faculty member, Ryan taught extensively in both rural and urban settings. Today, as Senior Director of Design and Facilitation, Ryan leads the organization’s strategy for creating and delivering world-class professional learning in PBL.
An award-winning teacher, researcher, and author, Ryan holds a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a doctorate in educational leadership. He is the co-founder of Borderland Collective, a long-running art and education project, and his research has appeared in journals including Teaching and Teacher Education and the Journal of Curriculum and Pedagogy.
Ryan is the author of the experimental education book, Teaching Contentious Topics in a Divided Nation: A Memoir and Primer for Pedagogical Transformation.
