
Nandita Dinesh
An ardent believer in Project Based Learning (PBL) as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation, Nandita Dinesh holds a PhD in Drama from the University of Cape Town in South Africa, an MA in Performance Studies from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University, and a BA in Economics & Theater from Wellesley College.
Since 2008 Nandita has taught applied theatre, creative writing, literature, community engagement, curriculum development, and workshop facilitation. With an approach that is centered on PBL, Nandita's work as an educator and administrator have taken place in formal educational environments like international schools that offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (Rwanda, India, Armenia, New Mexico). Her work as a project-based teacher and learner have also taken the form of community theatre projects in Kashmir, India, the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Committed to education as a tool for civic and community engagement, Nandita has worked on PBL initiatives both as an educator within youth detention centers in New Mexico and as the Dean of Academic Administration at Mount Tamalpais College inside San Quentin State Prison. Currently Nandita works as a consultant with organizations that center education, the arts, and/or social impact. She is also spearheading Grey Zones: a global, intergenerational collective of writers and thinkers who center creativity and complexity when addressing urgent social, political, & cultural questions.
