Over the past 18 years, John has taught biology, environmental science, physics, and STEM courses in grades 9–12 at The Brooklyn International High School. In his classes, John implements Project Based Learning curricula in order to make learning relevant and accessible for his multilingual learners. He currently teaches 12th-grade Physics and Engineering Design in the school’s Fab Lab and shares teacher guides and resources for many of his projects at aworldofscience.org

Beyond the classroom, John is passionate about supporting educators in designing meaningful learning experiences for their students. He has collaborated extensively with teachers, schools, and organizations across the country as an instructional coach, teacher mentor, consultant, and speaker. As a curriculum writer, John has published dozens of PBL science and STEM units for a range of organizations in education. In recognition of his work in and out of the classroom, John received the Muller Award for Professional Influence in Education from Math for America in June 2025.
