Christie is currently a Gifted and Talented Magnet Coordinator and Resource Teacher for an elementary school in Louisville, KY. Her passion for teaching began at a young age, always sharing that she wanted to be a teacher when she grew up. She began her career teaching first grade and since then has taught 2nd-5th grades.  Last year, Christie transitioned from the classroom to a Deeper Learning Resource Teacher for Jefferson County Public Schools.  In this role, she worked with her team to facilitate professional learning experiences and coach educators on deeper learning classroom strategies such as project based learning.  She is a Kentucky CTEPs alum, Project Based Learning certified educator, and UK Next Gen graduate.

Christie is passionate about providing engaging learning experiences for all learners.  She has been involved in Project Based learning since 2012 and continues to implement PBL units in her K-5th grade groups.  She believes Project Based Learning allows learners to co-design and take ownership of their learning.

Christie earned her Bachelor degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Mathematics Education, Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership, and a Gifted and Talented Education certification from the University of Louisville.
