About the Workshop
In this workshop, participants will elevate their assessment practices within Project Based Learning (PBL). Participants will work with existing units or new project blueprints provided by PBLWorks to enhance and refine the assessment components through the lens of our PBL Equity Levers. They will focus on identifying success criteria, designing performance assessments, and creating rubrics aligned with key learning goals and success skills. Participants will explore a variety of self-, peer-, and teacher assessment strategies, thoughtfully incorporating them into the project. Educators will acquire practical, learner-centered strategies and tips through interactive activities and collaborative dialogues to advance their PBL assessment practices and foster more equitable student outcomes.
This PBL 201 workshop focuses on the Project Based Teaching Practice of Assessing Student Learning. Participants will use the Gold Standard PBL Teacher rubric criteria to self-assess and strengthen their project design revisions.
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Plan key milestones that allow students to demonstrate growth toward learning goals
- Align assessments with learning goals drawn from content standards, literacy goals, and success skills
- Create standards-aligned rubrics to guide both formative and summative assessments throughout a project
- Incorporate frequent, purposeful opportunities for self-, peer-, and teacher assessment to monitor individual learning and team progress.
