Hammond, a nationally-recognized consultant and author of Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain, will challenge and inspire the audience, and discuss PBL as a strategy for educational equity.

Hammond, a former classroom English teacher, has been doing instructional design, school coaching, and professional development at the intersection of equity, literacy, and culturally responsive teaching for the past 18 years. She is passionate about culturally responsive teaching as a way to help educators close opportunity and learning gaps for under-served students.
“You cannot call yourself a ‘culturally responsive educator’ if your purpose is to raise test scores rather than to liberate young people’s spirits and ignite their intellectual curiosity,” she said.
