Ryan Sprott is a public high school teacher at the International School of the Americas in San Antonio, TX. He possesses a wide range of classroom experience having taught in rural, urban, and international settings. As a co-founder of Borderland Collective, a long-term art and education project housed at Texas State University, as well as a member of the Buck Institute’s National Faculty, he has led educators across the country in developing authentic and engaging learning experiences. In all of his work, he strives to extend learning beyond the classroom walls so that students and teachers may develop greater capacities for collaboration, critical thinking, empathy, and global competence. Sprott is the recipient of the James F. Veninga Award for outstanding teaching of the humanities, he holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio, and his publications include writings in Education Week and Teaching and Teacher Education.
