Maricela Alarcón

Maricela Alarcón currently serves as a Title I Dual Language Elementary School principal in San Antonio, Texas. She wholeheartedly believes project based learning is the vehicle towards equity in education. All students should be afforded the opportunity to lead, learn, create, collaborate, communicate, innovate, think critically, be a solution finder, and be a model of great character. No matter the person’s background, a high quality education can help equalize differences among people. 

Maricela began her educational journey by earning her BA in Psychology and Sociology at Rice University. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Bilingual Education at Our Lady of the Lake University. Ultimately earning her doctorates degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has 17 years of educational experience at the elementary level in Texas. She holds a bilingual credential (Spanish and English) and has a passion for serving students who are economical disadvantaged as well as English Language Learners.
