Barbara Chow

Barbara Chow is currently the Director of Education at Heising Simons Foundation. She was recently at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation for eight years. Barbara led the foundation’s support of deeper learning competencies for K-12 students and Open Educational Resources that enable free access to high quality, openly licensed materials and California policy reform efforts. Previously, Barbara led the National Geographic Education Foundation, held senior positions in the Clinton Administration, including deputy director of the Domestic Policy Council and program associate director for Education, Income Maintenance and Labor at the Office of Management and Budget. She also served on Capitol Hill, most recently as policy director for the House Budget Committee. Barbara has a bachelor’s degree in government from Pomona College and a master’s degree in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
